Eastern Shore Events November 2005

The November 2005 calendar of festivals, parades, carnivals and other events on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia. We also include Dover, the Delaware beaches, and Ocean City events.

November 4 - 6
Downrigging Weekend
Celebrate the close of the schooner Sultana's sailing season as traditional sailing vessels from around the Chesapeake gather in Chestertown for Downrigging Weekend. "Open houses" and public sails on the Sultana, skipjack Ellsworth, the Kalmar Nyckel, the new schooner Virginia, the Lady Maryland, Stanley Norman and the Mildred Belle. Not to be missed! OysterFest
In honor of the Bay oyster. Enjoy live music, boat rides, cooking demonstrations, and a tent full of children's activities. Learn proper shucking, tonging, and nippering techniques. Dine on raw, steamed and fried oysters and more. St Michaels, Md.

November 11 - 13
Easton Waterfowl Festival
Premier wildlife event for the entire family. Features sculptures. paintings, carvings, and decoys. There are Chesapeake Bay Retriever demonstrations, duck and goose calling contests, crafts, and lot of delicious food. 18,000 to 20,000 visitors from throughout the US and other countries attend each year. Art collectors looking for the best in wildlife art, hunting enthusiasts celebrating their traditions and skills, families looking for a weekend getaway, and shoppers seeking the perfect holiday gifts all find something to enjoy at the Waterfowl Festival. Easton, Md.

November 12
Fall Family Festival
Celebrate the fall at Adkins Arboretum with hayrides, guided walks, natural holiday crafts, meadow mazes, face painting, special music and lunchtime treats. Ridgely, Md.

November 17 - January 2
Winterfest of Lights
Ocean City in lights. Inlet Lot features the Tunnel of Lights and a nautical theme. Drive the Avenue of Trees along Baltimore Avenue on your way to Northside Park where you can board the Winterfest Tram to get a close look at the displays. A heated tent at Northside Park houses Santa for a photo. Ocean City, Md.

Assateague Island Waterfowl Week
Open house and events. Assateauge Island, Va.

November 25 - 29
Festival of Trees
Decorated Christmas trees, home tour, sale of decorations and gifts. Easton, Md.

November 26
Christmas Boat Parade
Boats decorated for Christmas parade through Kent Narrows. Judged on originality, display of lights and overall appearance. Kent Narrows, Md.

November 26 - December 19
Victorian Christmas
A variety of holiday events. Berlin, Md.
