Eastern Shore Events August 2005

A calendar of festivals, parades, carnivals and other events on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia in August of 2005. Also covering Dover, the Delaware beaches, and Ocean City.

July 20 - August 7
Wachapreague Firemans Carnival
Carnival rides, bingo, food, music, fun. On the waterfront in Wachapreague, VA.

August 3 - 7
Caroline County Fair
Livestock shows, horse shows, live entertainment, livestock auction, amusement rides, jousting tournament. Denton, MD.

August 5 - 7
Wheat Threshing, Steam and Gas Engine Show
45th annual, so you know it's good. Operating steam engines, antique tractors, and other antique farm machines. Live music. Denton, MD.

August 6
Betterton Day Celebration
Festivities along side the sandy, nettle-free beach on the Chesapeake Bay. Swimming at Betterton Beach, parade, baby contests, food available, face painting, crafts, "Cow Plop Bingo" held in town park. Betterton, MD.

August 12 - 14
Worcester County Fair
Livestock shows, cake auction, kitty calling contest, kiss a pig, and other rural high-jinks. Byrd Park in Snow Hill, MD.

August 13
Antioch Peach Festival
Peaches, peach pie, peach cobbler, peach fritters, crab cake sandwiches, peach ice cream. Antioch United Methodist Church, Cambridge, MD.

August 13
Seafood Festival
Come and enjoy some of Maryland's finest seafood. This annual all-you-can-eat festival has steamed blue crabs, crab soup, fried clams, fried fish, barbecue chicken, ranch fries, sweet potato fries, hot dogs, corn, tomatoes, watermelon, and sodas. Also live entertainment, craft sales, exhibits, boat rides, door prizes and historic tours. Sailwinds Park, Cambridge, MD.

August 19 - 20
Caroline Summerfest
Family festival with 4 live music stages, boat rides, art for kids, fine art, food, fireworks. Downtown Denton, MD.

August 20
Rock Hall Party on the Bay
Food, craft vendors, live music, crab picking contest and crab race, children's area. Rock Hall, MD.

August 24 - 27
Great Pocomoke Fair
Harness racing, fireworks, tractor pull, amusement rides, midway, livestock exhibits, and lots of other stuff. Pocomoke, MD.
