A calendar of festivals, parades, carnivals and other events on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia in July of 2005. Also covering Dover, the Delaware beaches, and Ocean City.

June 22 - July 9
Onancock Firemans' Carnival and Fireworks
Family fun end with a big fireworks display over the quaint waterfront town of Onancock. Carnival rides, games, and live entertainment. Proceeds benefit the volunteer fire department. Nightly except Sundays. Carnival grounds, Onancock, VA.

June 30 - July 4
Bay Country Festival
Rousing July 4th celebration on the Choptank River. Evening festival with carnival, food, games and live outdoor entertainment. Sailwinds Park, Cambridge, MD.

July 1 - 30
Chincoteague Volunteer Fireman's Carnival
80th annual. Traditional carnival. Fireworks on July 4. Chincoteague Island, VA.

July 2 - 3
Schooner Sultana 2-Hour Sails
Sultana's two-hour public sails are a great opportunity to sail the Chesapeake onboard a traditional schooner. Passengers are encouraged to help raise the sails, steer using Sultana's giant tiller and explore the authentically reproduced crew's quarters below-decks. Two-hour sails fill up quickly so advance reservations are highly recommended. Chestertown, MD.

Art in the Park
4th annual juried fine arts and crafts show. 75 exhibitors. Sales, musical entertainment, food. Held at the Barrier Islands Center, Machipongo, VA.

Rock Hall Famous Fireworks

Talbot County Fair
Shows, exhibits, contests, games, rides, and music. Talbot Ag Center, Easton, MD.

July 18 - 24
Somerset County Fair
Contests, food, and animal shows. Princess Anne, MD.

July 20
J Millard Tawes Crab and Clam Bake
29th annual outdoor all-you-can-eat affair featuring crabs, clams, fish, corn on the cob, and watermelon. Space is limited, buy tickets early. Somers Cove Marina, Crisfield, MD.

July 20 - August 7
Wachapreague Firemans Carnival
Carnival rides, bingo, food, music, fun. On the waterfront in Wachapreague, VA.

July 21 - 24
Kent County Fair
A county-wide event for all residents and visitors. Featuring 4-H and open animal and indoor exhibits, tractor pull, rides, youth events, food and fun for the entire family. Kent County Fairgrounds, Tolchester, MD.

July 21 - 30
Delaware State Fair
Concerts by Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Hoobastank, Gavin DeGraw, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the Charlie Daniels Band. Comedy by Larry the Cable Guy. Carnival. Demolition derby and monster truck show. Harrington, DE.

Kent Island Fireman's Carnival
The 57th Annual Fireman's Carnival helps to raise funds for Volunteer Fire Dept equipment and maintenance. Firemanšs Parade, games, food, special ride nights, fireworks, and fun for the whole family. Stevensville, MD.

July 27 - 29
Chincoteague Pony Swim and Auction
Famous event. Wild Chincoteague ponies swim Assateague Channel at Chincoteague Memorial Park. Auction of ponies (yearlings or younger) on July 28th. Ponies swim back to Assateague on the 29th. Chincoteague Island, VA.

July 29 - 31
Cambridge Classic Powerboat Regatta
American Powerboat Association Sanctioned World Championships of inboard hydroplane and flat-bottom race boats. 12 classes of boats in a world class championship affair. Access to the race pits, bleacher seating available. Hambrooks Bay at Great Marsh Park. Cambridge, MD.

July 30 - 31
Crab Days
Celebrate the Chesapeake Bay blue crab. Live music, boat rides, cooking demonstrations, and a tent full of children's activities. Try your hand at pulling up crab pots, chicken necking, and trotlining. Indulge in steamed crabs, crab cakes, crab soup, and more. $11, boat rides and food additional cost, members free.
